Diet - Rule of thumb

  • a) caloric restriction, sleep optimisation, stress control, exercise
  • b) high protein, high fibre
  • c) slow carbohydrates/ low GI (fewer spikes, lower variability in blood glucose)
  • d) less processed the better (usually)
  • e) fat preference - 1. MUFA, 2. PUFA, 3. Saturated Fat - limited, 4. Trans Fat - avoid
  • f) good hydration
  • g) fructose - limited
  • h) sugar - avoid
  • i) supplement for potentially missing micronutrients
